The Stedelijk Museum presents the first European museum solo exhibition of the American artist Avery Singer (b. New York, NY, 1987) and her very first presentation in the Netherlands. The show will offer a comprehensive view of the artist’s work since 2012. In the IMC Gallery on the first floor, Singer will exhibit the vast installation that was enthusiastically received during her Statements presentation at Art Basel in 2015, and which has since been added to the Stedelijk’s permanent collection. Also included are several recent works realized specifically for the Stedelijk.

FRIDAY NIGHT: OPENING + LIVE ART

For the opening on Friday April 22, Avery Singer invites MikeQ and dj Watercolor to produce a ‘sound carpet’ that, along with your voices, will form Singer’s newest artwork: a live recording. Find the event on Facebook!
Free entry.

STEDELIJK CONTEMPORARIES

The 2016 exhibition program includes a number of solo presentations of a young generation of artists. Featuring new productions, the exhibits will also tie in with the Stedelijk’s acquisitions policy. The Stedelijk seeks to signal new artistic ideas and developments and be transparent, presenting newly acquired works right away. Our commitment to developing lasting relationships with young artists shapes the future identity of our collection. Later in the year, the Stedelijk will display new works and acquisitions of work by artists Magali Reus and Loretta Fahrenholz.
