Hotel Savant Theater Company

BAM Fisher
Alas, The Nymphs at BAM Next Wave
December 9-12. 2015
Brooklyn New York

"The ancient Greek myth of Hylas—about an Argonaut presumed to have been abducted by water nymphs—is resuscitated by theatrical auteur John Jahnke and New York-based company Hotel Savant as a bacchic parade of fragmented poetry, psychosexual intrigue, and dance-theater-cum-art-installation. With music by Austrian electronic composer Fennesz, Alas, The Nymphs is a lurid meditation on eros and power, submerging contemporary consciousness in mythic guilts and desires.

Featuring Tanisha Thompson, Hillary Spector, Alexander Borinsky, LeeAnne Hutchison, Melody Bates, Hwalan Shub and Sebastian Quinn. Set Design Gordon Landenberger, Video Design Josh Higgason and Andrew Schneider, Sound Design Kristin Worrall, Costume Design Ramona Ponce, Lighting Design Laura Mrockzowski, Choreography Consultant Jordan Isadore. Stage Management Karen Oughtred, Assistant Stage Management KJ Morton. Production Management James Fry.

 Additional Music by Calder Singer."

Beatrix Ruf & Agnus Gund...

"Beatrix Ruf, the director of Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum, has been selected as the 2015 recipient of Independent Curators International’s Agnes Gund Curatorial Award, which “is presented every other year to an established curator for their outstanding contribution to the world of art.”
Ruff has been a closely watched tastemaker for years, and prior to joining the Stedelijk she served as director of Kunsthalle Zurich from 2001 to 2014, where she organized shows with a wide array of artists, including Isa Genzken, Laura Owens, Frances Stark, and Avery Singer."
